Memories of Orchard East Digital Archive Project

About This Project

The Memories of Orchard East Digital Archive Project seeks to preserve and share the important history of the Orchard East neighborhood and experiences of Orchard community members, located in the City of Monroe, Michigan. While the area continues to undergo substantial changes both economically and geographically, we have created this project as a safe and welcoming space for community members to share their experiences and memories. As a historically diverse, but often underrepresented area of the larger Monroe community, these materials highlight views and lived experiences that deserve to be seen and recognized. In these collections you will find subject matter ranging from historic schools, locally owned businesses, grass-roots activism, local church histories, community events and oral histories.

We welcome and encourage public contribution and interaction with this project.
Who else can better to tell your story than you?
